Evangelist Evangelist

Evangelist's eponymous album featuring members of UNKLE and Toydrum is released – sadly the man behind the project, singer Gavin Clark, died in 2015.

"Evangelist" is the eponymous debut album from a project involving Gavin Clark (Sunhouse, Clayhill), Pablo Clements and James Griffiths (Toydrum, UNKLE). Sadly, it will be their only album; "Evangelist" brings together Clark's final recordings, completed by Griffith and Clements with help from Clark's eldest son, Warren Ellis (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Grinderman) and composer Ludovico Einaudi. Clark's voice is full of pathos and pain and provided many of the most haunting moments on UNKLE's albums. Even without knowing about his early death, songs like "Same Hands", "Know One Will Ever Know", "I Wanna Lift You Up" and "God Song" send a shiver down your spine. "Evangelist" is a painfully beautiful album – and unfortunately a final curtain.
